
In what is being described as an historic first, president Bush today nominated Lt. General
Ann E. Dunwoody to take over as commanding General of the U.S. Army's
Material Command. That's the outfit that keeps the Army supplied with anything and everything they need and use. Read the Washington Post's article about the nomination
here. If confirmed by the U.S. Senate, according to the Post article, "...she would be the first woman in U.S. history to receive such a high military rank. " As a long term feminist (father of two daughters and former RN in a previous life),
The Author is delighted. Kudos to Dunwoody, who comes from the deepest military family imaginable.
